It is our pleasure to announce this call for proposals for the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences Forum, currently planned to be held in Toronto in 2022.
In keeping with prior fora, we are seeking proposals that are of interest to the broad membership of the CAHS. Past topics have included Promoting Health for Refugees in an Era of Forced Migration, A National Strategy for Chronic Pain in Canada, and The Dementia Challenge. As we look forward to reconvening in person again, this is an opportunity to bring new and creative ideas to the Academy for discussion, debate, and deliberation. We especially encourage proposals from new Fellows.
The Forum agenda typically consists of one full day of panel presentations (4-5 panels), followed by the Induction Ceremony of new Fellows in the evening. The Cy Frank and Paul Armstrong Award Lecture presentations occur on the second day.
The deadline to submit a proposal is Tuesday, January 19th, 2021. We invite those of you who have suggestions to fill out this online form. Please provide us with a short synopsis (150 words) on the topic you would like to put forward for consideration, and identify proposed speakers and Program Co-Chairs. The responsibilities of the Program Co-Chairs include working with the members of the Annual Planning Meeting Committee to:
- Plan the content and panel themes for the scientific program;
- Identify speakers;
- Produce content for promoting the topic for the Forum; and
- Generate a report with the possibility of peer-reviewed publication.
CAHS administration will assist with all details. Travel reimbursement will be provided for the Program Co-Chairs.
We thank you in advance and very much look forward to receiving your proposals.
