The realities of climate change are being felt today in Canada and globally, with implications for health, health equity and health systems. Health care, and the life science industries that support it, are resource intensive and highly polluting, and contribute significantly to climate change. At the same time, health outcomes and safe and effective health care are threatened by growing climate shocks and stresses. Few sectors face as grave a risk from climate change, or as great an opportunity to benefit from climate and sustainability action, including through practice change, policy development and research and innovation.
The CAHS 2024 Forum “Toward Climate Resilient, Low Carbon Sustainable Health Systems” will bring together leading scientists, educators, practitioners, and leaders to explore this complex health challenge. Through keynote presentations, panel discussions and facilitated breakout sessions with internationally recognized leaders in the fields of climate change, health, and sustainable care, participants will gain insight into the state of the evidence base, and deliberate strategic and actionable solutions.
