Kevin Keough is Executive Director of the Alberta Prion Research Institute, Principal of Kevin Keough Consulting Incorporated and Professor Emeritus at Memorial University. Previously he was President and CEO of the Alberta Heritage Foundation for Medical Research, Chief Scientist at Health Canada, Vice-President (Research and International Relations), Head of Biochemistry, and Professor of Biochemistry and Pediatrics at Memorial University. An MRC / CIHR grantee for 34 years, Dr. Keough has made significant contributions to the understanding of molecular organization and function of pulmonary surfactant and biological membranes.

Dr. Keough is a past Vice-President of the MRC.  He was a member of the Interim Governing Council and the Governing Council of CIHR, the Board of Directors of CAHS, Genome Canada, Genome Alberta, Genome Atlantic, the Science Media Centre of Canada, the Newfoundland and Labrador Science Centre, Telus World of Science Edmonton, and five research, development and innovation companies and agencies.  He served as Deputy Chair of the Council of Science and Technology Advisors to the Federal Cabinet, Co-Chair of the Canada-European Union Science and Technology Agreement, and on the University Advisory Group to Industry Canada, and the Advisory Group of the SR&ED program. He founded NovaLipids Incorporated and is Past-President of three national professional organizations. He has chaired review and advisory panels for CIHR, NSERC, CFI, NCE, CFREF and CERC.
