Fifty-Nine New Fellows Elected to the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences
New Fellowship reflects the breadth, diversity, and excellence of Canada’s health sciences community
Ottawa, ON – August 25, 2026 – The Canadian Academy of Health Sciences (CAHS) is pleased to announce the election of 59 new Fellows for 2026, recognizing a distinguished group of leaders whose collective expertise spans the full spectrum of health sciences in Canada.
The new Fellows represent diverse disciplines, sectors, perspectives, and regions of the country. Together, they bring expertise from clinical care, biomedical research, public health, health systems, Indigenous health, social sciences, health policy, education, and community engagement.
“Each year, the election of new Fellows strengthens the depth and diversity of expertise within our Academy,” said Dr. Elham Emami, Chair of the Fellowship Committee. “The 2026 cohort reflects the remarkable breadth of Canada’s health sciences community and the many ways in which leadership, innovation, and service contribute to improving the health and well-being of Canadians.”
Election to the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences is among the highest honours in Canada’s health sciences community. Fellows are nominated and elected by their peers in recognition of distinguished achievements and sustained contributions to advancing knowledge, improving health, and shaping healthier societies.
Beyond recognition, Fellowship carries an important commitment. CAHS Fellows contribute their expertise to the Academy’s assessments, strategic initiatives, and public policy advice. Through this service, they help inform decision-making, address emerging challenges, and advance the health of people and communities across Canada.
