The primary mandate of the Standing Committee on Government Relations and Strategic Partnership is to create and implement frameworks to guide federal and provincial government relations and provide oversight to strategic partnership development.

Responsibilities

  • Develop overall policies and strategies for CAHS government relations
  • Regarding interactions of Officers and Fellows with governments:
  • – Develop an agreed upon strategy for those approaching Governments on behalf of CAHS
  • – Track Fellows’ interactions with Government(s) on behalf of CAHS
  • Arrange at least annual meetings for the CAHS President with Federal Deputy Ministers of Health, Industry Canada, State (Science and Technology) and other relevant Ministries; and with President of CIHR
  • Facilitate provincial interactions for CAHS Fellows and foster relationships with provincial governments, national disease-based charities, research foundations and funding agencies. This work to build upon Regional CAHS Networks, Fellow organizations and initiatives
  • Generate newsletters, assessment reports and other information about CAHS to relevant Deputy Ministers ( e.g. Health, Industry Canada, State [Science and Technology]) and provincial governments
  • Coordinate activities with those of the Standing Committee on Development & Strategic Communications
